View Full Version : Hacked account or Misbehaving User?

Lately a user on my forum has been posting lots of irrelevant topics, acting against the rules etc. When I contacted this user he acted like he didnt know what I meant and then claimed that his account had been hacked. This user has been known to cause a little trouble before, which is why I am unsure whether to take action against and report the hacking, or just ban the user. Before when he caused trouble, though, it wasnt exactly like this... So what would you do? Any advice?

Leave him for now. When he does again. Ban him

Keep track of the ips? If he does it again write down the ip. If he says he was hacked get that ip. If they dont match then you know.

Ok...
I banned him awhile ago and didnt feel the need to post it here. Now he seems to have either another IP or hacked one of my newer members accounts as when the member registered it was NOT his IP, but now it is. He has been making threats to try and "steal all my members" and "delete this (cussword excluded)".
I tried to put a ban on his IP, but it didnt seem to work.
Advice??
I know he has a motive for hacking my site: he owns a similar site and hates that I have one also.
What should I do?

Just keep banning him. He'll get bored.

Or ask him to signup here, ill teach him a thing or two ;)

Sam,you know this person.

A member whose name I will not mention,is telling me I am in violation of the SMF terms of service,posting punishments when he is not an Admin,Global moderator or a moderator of a board.Harassing members(especially me).

What this about harrasing users? Stay on topic or make another topic if it is not related to this..

Anyway LifestarFe if you have tried banning his IP then obviously he is changing his IP or something so just carry on banning him, if this doesn't work then just go into the admin cp under members go onto registration then click on settings tab, then change the method of registration to registration disabled ;)
